Interviews with Musicians

Norman Fairbanks(Germany)

Profile

Audio conceptualist Norman Fairbanks was born at a time when people began to utilize large and heavy synthesizer in order to create noise. After many years focusing only on classical music he became interested in metaphoric audio state descriptions through targeted symbolic combinations of speech and noise elements with sound which marked the beginning of ´One American Second´.
Norman Fairbanks is an audio concept art project with the mission to freely melt artefacts from the vast panopticon of modern media with selected field recordings and/or specific generated electro-acoustic noise elements to investigate new tonalities in sound. Corresponding results are being used to create a context-free, unbiasedly, neo-expressionist audio witness and reflection of contemporary culture.

"The concept of modern media has become a good-looking but highly intransparent arboretum aiming to manipulate your precious brain in each and every single moment. But there is also a real enjoyment within the endlessly absorbed stream of pre-designed information because it unintentionally provides a rich playground for specific audio experiments and ultimately a true medium for new art forms."
