Hold down the R3 button and press an LED button to transpose all pitches.

Altering the loop point introduces changes to a rhythm pattern. First, display the rhythm part layer and press the L4 button in sync with the rhythm to change the end-point of the loop. This pattern begins as a single-bar rhythm pattern. Here it is transformed from one bar to one beat, then to eighths, sixteenths, becoming progressively shorted before returning the loop end to a single bar with apposite timing. The following details the sequence used to transform the pattern from a single bar to sixteenths, then back to a single bar.

Although TENORI-ON is capable of muting sound completely, it cannot mute individual sound layers. Instead, layer volume is utilized to adjust the volume of each layer. During performance, layer one is the rhythm part, so will be muted. To mute a layer, hold down the R4 button and press the left-most LED on layer 1 with apposite timing. This mutes the volume of layer 1 completely. To return the layer to its original volume, hold down the R4 button and press the LED that corresponds to the original volume of the layer. Here we explain how to mute the bass line on layer 2. Note that it is important to remember the exact position of the original volume setting.

Use this technique to apply chorus effects (flanger) during performance. Before performing, enter a figure for the chorus parameter (Effect menu / 4. Chorus Param), and set the chorus type (Effect menu / 3. Chorus Type) to NO EFFECT. To apply the effect, open the chorus type screen during performance, spinning the jog dial downwards at the appropriate time to change the effect to FLANGER2. The effect will be applied at this point. To cancel the effect, select NO EFFECT again, or press the CANCEL button to leave the chorus type screen. In the actual performance depicted here, the R5 button is pressed to leave the screen.

A rhythmic tune built around an ad-lib melody. The TENORI-ON creates a percussion solo in Random mode, and adds more percussion in Solo mode. (Does not use User Voices)
Watch Video
Create a percussion solo layer. Set the percussion tone in random mode before performance. During performance, select this layer, then press the LEDs to create a suitable pattern. While there are no specific methods for doing this, you can add variation to the timing with which phrases are played back by changing the order in which you press the LEDs, rather than simply pressing them one after the other. After doing this, hold down the R4 button and trace LEDs to rotate the phrase pattern and make it random, and thus different to those originally entered. The speed with which you trace the LEDs defines the speed of rotation. To stop rotation, hold down the R4 button and any LED. Pressing the CLEAR button instantly deletes the layer you have entered and mutes the rhythm part. However, note that care should be taken, as holding down the CLEAR button for an extended time deletes all layers.

Use this technique to change the tempo for endings etc during playback. Press the R2 button to display the current tempo on the vertical axis of the LEDs. Press the LEDs to the right of the current position to increase the tempo, or to the left to decrease it. Here the tempo is gradually decreased, as if applying ritenuto.

An electro-pop tune made using UserVoices only. In this song, the TENORI-ON copies two blocks from the song you are playing, and adds them to your performance in draw mode.
Watch Video
Here, the only User Voice used is a vocal, which utilizes a long vocal phrase. To achieve this, use a personal computer to slice the song into segments less than 0.97 seconds in length. Next, use the User Voice Manager to assign each segment to each LOAD button and create a User Voice. In this performance, the score mode loop speed (L5) for the User Voice is set to 2, and played so that one loop is equal to two bars.
Watch Video
Here entry is performed by tapping the LEDs in time with the tempo to create fill-in type phrases, rather than tracing across the LEDs with your fingers. In the actual performance, this technique is used after copying the block being played back to an empty block while performing. To carry out this copy procedure, hold down the R5 button, choose an LED in the lowermost LED of the source block you want to copy from and press it twice, then press the LED of the destination block you want to copy to (any LED in this block is ok).

This is a normal performance in draw mode, where the performer adds changes to the phrases by changing loop speed. After tracing across the LEDs to enter a phrase, hold down the L5 button, then press an LED one row to the right of the vertical axis of LEDs currently lit. This changes the original setting of 4 to 8, making the playback speed of the entry slower than when originally entered. In the actual performance, this technique is used after copying the block being played back to an empty block while performing.
