YAMAHA Ringtones Set for Launch in Australia and New Zealand

YAMAHA CORPORATION (head office: 10-1, Nakazawa-cho, Hamamatsu, Shizuoka; president: Shuji Ito) have launched its polyphonic ringtone download service-YAMAHA Ringtones-in New Zealand on February 27, and in Australia on March 5. The service is provided via Vodafone live!, the mobile phone content service of Vodafone, the world's largest mobile community. With this move, YAMAHA aims to gain broad popularity for its polyphonic ringtone download services in both countries.

The use of mobile phones is growing in Australia and New Zealand, with current penetration rates in each country has now reached 70% mark. Also, mobile phones equipped with multimedia functions are starting to appear in both countries, heightening expectations for the proliferation of new mobile services in these markets.

Vodafone globally rolled out its Vodafone live! content service in October 2002, achieving great success in Australia and New Zealand. It is the first time for YAMAHA to provide a ringtone service on a Vodafone live! service, as well as the first time for YAMAHA to provide the ringtone service in Oceania region.
