Yamaha to Provide Polyphonic Ringing Melody Distribution Service to Telefónica Móviles España.

Hamamatsu City, July 1, 2003—Yamaha Corp. and Yamaha Hazen Música (Madrid, Spain) are pleased to announce that from the end of June they will start providing a polyphonic ringing melody distribution service to the mobile phones with *i-mode wireless Internet service to the customer of Telefónica Móviles España, the mobile unit of Spain`s former national telecommunications operator. The Company has integrated i-mode contents in MoviStar e-moción service.


Yamaha opens a new ringing melody distribution site aiming to extend and strengthen its service along with Telefónica Móvile's launch of the *i-mode wireless Internet service in Spain on June 2003.

At present 34,7 million people use cell phone of Spain`s total population of 41 million people. Of these, Telefónica Móviles has the largest market sharer with 18.7 million subscribers.

The new service will start with a line-up of 1,000 ringing melodies mainly tunes from Spain, the U.S. and U.K .including more local tunes added to line-ups by Yamaha Hazen Música. The melodies are available in "Tonos y Logos" section at MoviStar e-moción menu.

Yamaha Corp. is one of the leading providers of ringing melodies to mobile phones, offering a choice of more than 6,000 songs to about 3.2 million subscribers in Japan as of May, 2003.
Yamaha haa intended to expand the ringing melodies service to mobile phone in Spain by utilizing this experience and its extensive archive of song data with the distribution of many types of high quality, polyphonic ringing tones..
