-Yamaha renews its premium music software site- |

New York (January 30, 2002) - Yamaha Music Interactive, Inc. (YMIA), Yamaha's New York base for digital music content distribution, has announced the renewal and expansion of its web site, yamahamusicsoft.com. The site has been selling officially endorsed digital music content for Yamaha's musical instruments since January 2001, and has grown its business rapidly during this period.
With this renewal, the site has expanded the range of supported musical instruments to include acoustic and professional products such as drums, brass and woodwind, and synthesizers. It has also increased the number of downloadable files, peripheral products and application software, including the huge range of superb PianoSoft titles for Disklavier pianos, which are now available for immediate automated download.
"We are fully committed to provide a complete digital content solution for all Yamaha musical instruments", noted Kevin Mitton, General Manager of YMIA. Mitton predicts that with current growth trends, more than a half of musical instrument users will seek digital content via the Internet and other networks within two years. "We are working ceaselessly to establish a customer-friendly experience to offer the widest range of the best-quality content to our users, and digital content allows us to offer immediate automatic fulfillment".
yamahamusicsoft.com also offers new products made by a newly formed joint-venture company called YMH Digital Music Publishing:
Scorch XF digital score files allow a user to select from the world's best sheet music, preview arrangements online (and even transpose according to individual requirements), and then load directly into Yamaha keyboards with score display feature. Once in the keyboard, dynamic musical expression is added to the scored parts and the score can even interact with the keyboard's auto accompaniment.
The v-Player combines interactive music notation with real-time graphics that show the right fingering for each note. Yamaha v-Player software can be downloaded to a Windows based PC from the company's website, www.yamahamusicsoft.com/vp, where hundreds of pieces of music are also available for $3.95 each. Once downloaded, the music selection can be viewed on a PC as an on-screen score and, at the same time, can be played through computer speakers to examine how the performance should sound.
According to Mitton, Yamaha is working with its alliance partners to merge digital music content with the company's next-generation musical instruments, such as Clavinova digital pianos, portable keyboards and guitars.
