Since producing Japan's first locally made piano in 1900, Yamaha pianos have continued to set the standard in Japan.Recognized by leading international artists, the quality of our pianos has delighted audiences on a number of the world's most illustrious stages. In 2002, Ayako Uehara followed in the footsteps of Denis Matseuv, playing a Yamaha CFIIIS to take first place in the 12th International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. Proud to be the instrument of choice for the young prodigies who dominated this prestigious contest two consecutive times, Yamaha will continue to expand the sphere of artistic expression as we advance the evolution of the piano.
Applying digital sound source technologies, Yamaha electronic keyboards capture the realism of acoustic musical instruments. So that anyone can play with ease and enjoyment, Yamaha keyboards feature guide functions using rhythm or light and offer a number of performance experiences. For example, music data can be down-loaded from the Internet and enjoyed in a hands-off performance, used for lessons, or displayed as an electronic score. Encouraged by the evolution of these capabilities, Yamaha is working to offer new applications and possibilities for electronic keyboards.
Yamaha is the world's number one producer of wind instruments. With more than one hundred years of manufacturing experience, Yamaha uses a unique blend of the latest scientific techniques combined with the timeless expertise of highly skilled artisans. But this alone isn’t enough to create a true musical masterpiece. The secret behind the phenomenal success of Yamaha winds is our close partnership with many of the world’s greatest artists. No other manufacturer maintains a complete roster of design teams for each instrument, and no other manufacturer has a global network of R&D centers located in proximity to the great musical capitals. We work together with musicians and channel their insights, knowledge, and dreams into great musical instruments—instruments which can be found in almost every orchestra and club in the world.
From rock to classical music, Yamaha string and percussion instruments are sought out wherever fine music is played. Yamaha continues to offer a wide lineup of instruments across the entire spectrum, from the superb quality Signature Series developed in cooperation with top artists, to accessibly priced instruments that can be confidently enjoyed even by beginners. Following the success of our popular "SILENTTM"electric violin, appreciated for its elegance of form, in 2000 we developed an acoustic violin that fuses traditional musical instrument manufacturing techniques with leading-edge technology. Our acoustic violins set new standards for sound and playability and are generating significant interest among serious musicians.
The "SILENTTM Series" was developed to meet the needs of those who want the freedom to practice their music anytime and anyplace. Combining traditional acoustic instrument manufacturing with advanced electronic technology, this series includes a full lineup of pianos, drums, brass, strings, and other instruments. In addition to reducing the external sound, the "SILENTTM" Series offers expanded performance modes. Plug your "SILENTTM Series" instrument into an amplifier and speakers, connect it to a CD player to accompany your own playing, or create an ensemble with other players.
AVITECSTM
Through its experience in designing more than 200 concert halls and studios, Yamaha has accumulated a wealth of knowledge in sound environment creation. The results of this knowledge can be seen everywhere in "AVITECSTM"soundproof rooms. Yamaha's "3x3" system allows customers to choose the optimal sound environment from among combinations of three acoustic characteristics (sound fields) and three levels of sound proofing. This approach supports ideal sound fields in which human voices and musical instruments sound natural and distortion free. Sound is kept in the room where it belongs and unwanted external noise remains outside. The scope of Yamaha's soundproofing products ranges from soundproof rooms, detached soundproof buildings, sound field enhancing materials, and commercial soundproofing applications such as studios and laboratories.
Digital Musical Instruments
Keeping pace with the latest trends in popular music, digital musical instruments provide support to musicians for both live performances and their efforts in music production. Following on from the release of the MOTIF XS, which showed the way to the future and beyond, we have included the "fun to play" MM6 synthesizer to our lineup. The arrival of "MW Series" and "n-Series" music production products, which center on integration with Steinberg's "Cubase" software, has enabled us to create a comfortable environment for music creation, based on the concept of "good sound." Yamaha is committed to staying at the forefront of digital music solutions.
